Enriched language usage of compulsory vocabulary, together with professional in context English translation
Typical exam question oriented practices for each chapter
Full length assessment papers modeled after top school exam papers
This book comes with a multimedia CDROM. The CDROM contains detailed explanation of each question in each paper by our teacher. These lessons ensure pupils understand the reasoning behind each question. Unlike other assessment books, we provide the feedback to ensure your child understand the reasons, and very often, you, the parents also get refreshed with what you had learned a long time ago. You may be using the language everyday, but that does not mean you can explain to your child the rules of grammar the way the school teachers do. We help you to be ready to assist your child.
Outreach Book Alive series brings the “tuition teacher” to your child at zero cost, and for you the parent too, a refresher.
Available: Primary 1 to 6.
Pedagogical Approach of Outreach Chinese Enrichment Books
For each level, there are two books, Volume A and B, a direct correspondence to the textbook. For each chapter in the textbook, we have a corresponding enrichment chapter, consisting of the following.
Each chapter contains a table of all the words that the student must know (识读词语 and 识写词语, with the corresponding hanyu pinyin, in-context English translation and related combination of words (构词 and 配词). This allows the student to quickly summarise the essential basic for each chapter.
To ensure in depth understanding of the words that the student must be able to write and use (识写词语), we provide a section of sample sentences in which the student is required to fill in the blanks (写) with the correct words from this set of words. This allows the student to practise the writing of these words in the context of sentences where these words are appropriately used.
To ensure students can correctly differentiate the essential words (识读词语) from other words of similar pronunciation, or writing forms, we designed a set of MCQ in which the correct essential words are to be used in appropriate sentences. The other options are all words similar in some way. To enrich the student's vocubulary, our teacher will briefly explain the meaning of these other words in the video lessons.
Finally, there is a full length exam style question after every three chapters. The questions in this full length paper use words that the students have learned up to that chapter, including the comprehension passages.
In additional to all the above, our teacher will explain in our virtual classroom all questions in all the exercises in the book.
The solution to each question is worked out live on screen, step by step. The lessons are no different from having a well qualified teacher with your child 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
