Each of these CDROM contains about 14 hours of lessons by qualified teachers going through selected past year top school examination papers (mainly from Year 2006). The corresponding papers in PDF format are also included.
The best way to benefit from these CDROMs is as follows. Print a copy of of the papers, and get your child to work out the answers. Once that is done, view the corresponding video lessons and find out how the teacher work out the same questions. By the time your child had gone through the entire CDROM, covering about 10 exam papers, he/she would be very familar with methods and the approaches.
We have also included in the CDROM other FREE past year exam question papers, spanning years 2004-2009. Any newer papers that become available can be downloaded from this website.
If your child needs more practice, you can print copies of these papers for him/her to work on. Practise makes perfect. To be prepared for the examination is to practise on real exam questions.
To help your child achieve an A*, your child must be able to achieve this.
- Know all the topics of the syllabus.
- Know how questions in these topics are typically set.
- Know how to present the answers so that the grader has no reason to deduct marks.
- Be able to work fast, leaving lots of time for counter checking. Note that while there are some difficult questions in each paper, many questions are of routine nature, which most students who are sufficiently prepared would be able to do. The "make or break" would then be dependent on the "carefulness" or "carelessness" of the student.
Yes, as parents, as educators, we lament on the disadvantages of common one-off examinations; how they kill creativity in students. But of course until all that is changed, it is still that examination that determines how your child is streamed, what opportunities is made available to him/her, .......
So lets get them onto a good footing in their academic career; play the game. Sigh..... |
